A new Hawaiian spot, offering barbecue and more, has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 304 E. Santa Clara St., Suite B, downtown, the new addition is called Sunny Island BBQ.

This new business specializes in Hawaiian-inspired fare, with menu items like combo plates of beef, pork, chicken and kalbi. Each plate includes rice and either mac and cheese or a salad. You'll also find kalbi short ribs, lau lau and the kalua pig and cabbage entrees.

Sunny Island BBQ has gotten solid reviews thus far, with a 3.5-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp.

TJ T., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 15, wrote, "If you're in the mood for some amazing Hawaiian food, this is the place. They have most of the classic Hawaiian offerings you would expect, [like] mac salad, spam musubi, etc. The meat served here is amazing."

Yelper G T. added, “Their ribs are to die for. The meat fell right off of the bone ”

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Sunny Island BBQ is open from 10:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. on weekdays and noon–9:30 p.m. on Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
