On Saturday, they'll finally be put to use for the AES 500 Festival Parade, which is expected to draw more than 200,000 people downtown in advance of Sunday's 106th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Though the parade festivities don't begin until 11:45 a.m., road closures throughout downtown begin far earlier.

Since 10 a.m. Friday, Vermont Street has been closed between Meridian and Delaware streets.
