Downtown penthouse for sale for $2.4M with private access to Kings games via tunnel

If you love the Sacramento Kings — and have roughly $2.4 million— there’s a luxury penthouse for sale atop the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel with access to Golden 1 Center events via a private tunnel.

The 1,734-square-foot residence — 500 J St. #1806 — is the only top-floor unit available, said Jacob DaRosa, listing agent with Keller Williams Realty. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer tremendous panoramic views of the Sacramento River and the city.

The two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom penthouse last sold in late 2018 for $1.783 million, according to public records, and was re-listed earlier this month for $2.39 million.

“This exquisite penthouse delivers an unparalleled blend of sophisticated design, amenities, and direct access to the city’s buzzing sports and entertainment scene,” the property listing states.

Golden 1 Center is home of the Sacramento Kings basketball team, which earned a playoff spot this year for the first time in 17 years. Homeowners at The Residences at The Sawyer who have season tickets can get to Golden 1 Center through a private tunnel.

A much larger luxury penthouse came to market in 2021 for the asking price of $4.385 million, but is no longer listed for sale. The highest sale ever at the The Residences at The Sawyer was a $4.1 million deal five years ago.

“It’s a cool vibe on that whole penthouse floor, which is modern,” DaRosa said.

Homeowners at The Residences have access to a plethora of amenities, including valet parking, concierge service, a doorman, private lounge, hotel pool access, state-of-the-art fitness studio and 24-hour room service.

Unit 1806 features an open concept design with high-end finishes, 10-foot ceilings and a gourmet kitchen.

The penthouse also comes fully furnished.
