The Butcher Shop Beer Garden & Grill in West Palm Beach has closed.

Opened in April 2017, the downtown West Palm Beach restaurant officially shut their doors on Nov. 14, according to a posting on social media.

A sibling of Wynwood’s original Butcher Shop, the West Palm spot always strived to be more that just a restaurant. Their goal was a hybrid concept that was a combination retail meat market, a German-style beer garden as well as a full-service full-service restaurant.

Owned by father and son Igor and Fred Niznik, it started with the purchase of an old-fashioned butcher shop named Charlie's.

They cut cut their own steaks, made their own sausages and pierogis, ground their own burgers and smoked all of their meats in house.

The Butcher Shop was a carnivore's dream with smoked meats including chicken, pork shoulder, brisket and ribs, house-made sausages, steaks, meatloaf and even starters like brisket pierogies.

In addition to their unique concept, they also featured live music, trivia contests, cornhole tournaments and allowed patrons to bring their dogs.

Located in the 200 block of Sixth Street, between Flagler Drive and Olive Avenue, the eatery was a popular destination for many years.

Fred Niznik said his father had decided he was ready to retire, and that decision combined with the booming real estate market, prompted them to close the business and sell the property.

Niznik said that he and his father greatly appreciated their customers over the years and the support they received from locals.

He added that he had also closed The Butcher Shop in Wynwood back in January, but had opened a new concept restaurant in the same location called Crusoe Cabana Deluxe. The name is taken from the title character in Daniel Defoe's classic "Robinson Crusoe. " The result is a restaurant that focuses on seafood, and, at night, morphs into lounge/club.

In mid-November, they posted this note on their Instagram page letting patrons know about the closing:  "The butcher shop and beer garden west palm beach is permanently closed as of 11/14/2022. We would like to thank all of our loyal guest for all your support throughout the years. Thank you to the city and residents of west palm beach, we had some great times and even greater memories. Great wishes to all the supporters. The butcher shop team."
