Downturn would be 'good for my campaign' -Yang

Andrew Yang, the Democratic presidential candidate that wants to give every American $1,000 a month, thinks that a slowdown in the economy wouldn't be so bad for his campaign.

This is what the 2020 hopeful had to say to voters Friday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

"I think that if we do have a downturn over this next period, it would likely be good for my campaign because I'm so focused on this set of issues. And I think it would actually increase the appeal and appetite for some of the measures I'm describing. Because we saw what happened in the financial crisis, where we prioritized the banks. We saw what happened with this latest Trump tax cut, where we prioritized the big corporations, where they got the vast majority of the $1.5 trillion cut."

Yang also touted his rise in national polls. The entrepreneur has placed in the top 10 among Democratic White House contenders in recent opinion polls.
