Dozens of dairy products sold in Florida linked to listeria outbreak
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Dozens of dairy products that were sold nationwide have been recalled after an investigation linked the products to a multistate listeria outbreak.
The recalled products were manufactured by Rizo-López Foods Inc. and include cheese, yogurt and sour cream sold under the brand names Tio Francisco, Don Francisco, Rizo Bros, Rio Grande, Food City, El Huache, La Ordena, San Carlos, Campesino, Santa Maria, Dos Ranchitos, Casa Cardenas, and 365 Whole Foods Market, according to a food safety alert from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause serious, sometimes fatal, infections in young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Others can be infected with Listeria but they rarely become seriously ill.
The investigation from the Food and Drug Administration and CDC revealed that the outbreak includes cases dating back to 2014 and is currently ongoing.
So far 26 people from 11 states, including Florida have been infected. Two people have died.

If you purchased any of the recalled products, the FDA says you should throw them away. If you have symptoms of listeriosis you should contact your health care provider to report your symptoms and receive care.
