Dozens Rescued After Florida Ferris Wheel Loses Power on New Year's Eve

More than 60 people were rescued from a ferris wheel in Orlando, Florida, on New Year’s Eve, according to fire officials.

Orange County Fire Rescue said 62 people were rescued from 20 pods after the 400-foot ferris wheel at Icon Park lost power on Saturday night.

Video recorded by Kimberly Conley shows sparks flying from the attraction before rescue crews arrive. Conley told Storyful she and her family heard a loud explosion come from the wheel, which “sounded like fireworks.”
