DPR Construction launches workforce development program, Hardhat in Hand, at Facebook's Gallatin Data Center

DPR Construction in partnership with Facebook has launched a workforce development program, Hardhat in Hand, at the Gallatin Data Center.

The recently launched workforce development program is new to the Gallatin area and originated as part of the social media company’s commitment to investing in local communities.

“The program will offer participants an opportunity to learn a valuable trade and provide full-time employment placement at program completion,” DPR Construction spokesperson Ro Norman said, adding that the company is actively recruiting those who are interested in a career in construction and learning more about the training program.

Just 20 participants will be enrolled in the eight-week program that provides four weeks of classroom instruction on-site at the Gallatin Data Center among industry-experienced instructors and an additional four-week in-field training component.

“Our goal is to educate the community about the potential life-changing impacts of the Hardhat in Hand program,” Norman said.

The program is free for participants, and after completing the training, participants will receive full-time job placement with a DPR trade partner.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion from Volunteer State Community College, a CPR/AED Certificate and an OSHA-10 Certificate at the end of the program as well, Norman said.

After covering the material provided in the program, participants will be shy of one NCCER course to receive an NCCER Certification.

Program participants may also receive three credit hours towards Middle Tennessee State University’s Construction Management Program should they enroll following the training offered in part by DPR Construction and Facebook.

The construction company plans to host informational sessions in a virtual setting in the coming weeks before the program starts in January.
