Two people died and one person was injured in a head-on crash in Moore County early Saturday.

At about 3 a.m. Saturday, April 8, a 2004 Ford Taurus was traveling west on Hwy. 152 about 17.5 miles east of Dumas while a 2015 Chrysler 200 was traveling east, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The driver of the Ford was driving on the wrong side of the road and struck the Chrysler head-on, DPS said. The Ford came to rest in the eastbound lane, and the Chrysler came to rest on the improved shoulder facing north.

The Ford's driver, identified as Jeremy Lamb, 45, of Fairfield, Montana, and the Chrysler's driver, identified as Matthew Smith, 25, of Borger, were pronounced dead at the scene by Moore County Justice of the Peace Barbara Mulanax.

A passenger in the Ford, Karen Smith, 31, of Fairfield, Montana, was taken to Amarillo Northwest Texas hospital by Apollo MedFlight with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both occupants of the Ford had been wearing seat belts, while the Chrysler's driver was unsecured, DPS said.

The posted speed limit was 75 mph, and road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol Troopers.
