DPS: Sunray woman, 47, killed in head-on DUI crash in Moore County; Dumas teen arrested

A woman was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash in Moore County Wednesday night.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at about 9:25 p.m., a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling west on FM 119, approximately eight miles northeast of Dumas, while a 1990 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was traveling east.

The driver of the Suburban, identified as Jena Larios-Tipaz, 18, of Dumas, was driving westbound (the wrong way) in the eastbound lane and struck the Silverado head-on. The two vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lane.

The driver of the Silverado, identified as Shawna Granillo, 47, of Sunray, was killed in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Moore County Justice of the Peace Barbara Mulanax.

Larios-Tipaz was taken to Moore County Hospital in Dumas with minor injuries. He was treated and released into DPS custody. It was determined Larios-Tipaz had been drinking, according to a news release. He was arrested, taken to the Moore County Jail, and booked in on a charge of intoxicated manslaughter.

The posted speed limit was 75 mph, and road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol Troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.
