Dr. Oz makes Butler County campaign stop

About three weeks ahead of Election Day, Republican Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz made a campaign stop at Domenico’s in Butler County Monday.

He was joined by Republican Congressman Mike Kelly and Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas.

The visit comes as the race between Oz and Democratic Lt. Governor John Fetterman narrows.

“We’re really so excited to come out here. Cranberry Township, Butler County ― we really have a lot of support for Dr. Oz,” said supporter Jen Vanasdale, of Cranberry Township.

Oz declined to speak directly with Channel 11, but spoke to supporters about his trip to the Steelers game Sunday and his main campaign points.

“I was doing a little biopsy of Pennsylvania using Pittsburgh Steelers fans as my way of judging what’s going down, and there were three issues they raised,” said Oz.

Those three issues, he told supporters Monday, were the economy, drug use and crime.

“We know Philadelphia’s got the most homicides ever in its history, the most of any large city, per capita, in the country, but Pittsburgh’s not so good either,” said Oz.

Oz mentioned Saturday night’s shooting on Pittsburgh’s North Side that killed three people and injured a fourth.

“Three people murdered a few blocks from where we were tailgating,” said Oz. “Who could imagine this happening?”
