Dr. Ron Bergeron remembered at Northwest Louisiana Medical Society's Oyster Party

How the late Dr. Ron Bergeron loved those raw and chargrilled oysters and relished the Northwest Louisiana Medical Society's Oyster Party organized many years ago. He had planned the 65th held at The Chef's Table @ BeauxJax, Bossier City, one of the hottest venues in town.

"He put his heart and soul into it," said his friend Doug Boudreaux.

But Bergeron died the day before doors opened for the feast. His death gave a bittersweet feel to the casual affair, but the celebration moved forward as Bergeron, the life of any party, would have wanted it to.

The Dirty Red Band played on.  Northwest Louisiana Medical Society President Dr. Ed Morgan halted festivities only for a toast and moment of silence to remember Bergeron.

You didn't have to gorge on oysters to enjoy the meal.  Also on the menu: whole smoked gator, prime rib, shrimp skewers, mahi mahi, boudin and sausage gumbo.,

Working the large crowd at the by-invitation-only gathering: state Sen. Barry Milligan; state Reps.  Alan Seabaugh, Robert Mills and Thomas Pressly;  Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler and wife Paula; Caddo Sheriff  Steve Prator; Morgan's wife, Mary Pat Morgan. Also: Caddo Dist. Judges Edwin Byrd and  Craig Marcotte, Dr. Steve and Mona Conrad, Dr. Phil Rozman, Dr. Billy and Frances Washburne, Planter Danny Logan, Caddo Coroner Dr. Todd Thomas and wife Michele and Judge Jeff Cox, of the 2nd Circuit of Appeal, and wife Susan.
