'Drag Race's Willam To Star In Off-Broadway Musical 'Titanic' Parody

Drag Race star Willam is set to join the cast of the Off-Broadway play Titanique, a send-up of the blockbuster film Titanic that tells a hilarious and irreverent version of the iconic love story.
In the musical parody, Céline Dion takes over a tour at the Titanic museum to tell a wild version of how the love story between Jack and Rose really happened and includes the singer’s iconic songs “My Heart Will Go On,” “All By Myself," and “To Love You More.”
Willam will take over the role of Victor Garber, a satirical version of the real-life out gay actor who played Thomas Andrews in the original 1997 James Cameron film. The role that was originated by Ariana Grande’s brother Frankie Grande is currently being played by Anthony Murphy, but will be taken over by the drag queen on Sept. 5.
Jackie Burns currently stars as Céline Dion, Lindsay Heather Pearce and Michael Williams as lovebirds Rose and Jack, Brandon Contreras as Rose’s dastardly fiance Cal, Anne Fraser Thomas as The Unsinkable Molly Brown, and Marcus Antonio as The Iceberg—you gotta love a play with a talking inanimate object!
Willam first rose to fame on the fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race where he was kicked off the show during the “Frenemies” challenge. Since then, Willam has continued his acting career by starring in A Star is Born and EastSiders, which earned him a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor. He also made it to number one on the Billboard Comedy Albums chart for his parody album Shartistry in Motion.
When Willam announced the role on Instagram, his fellow Drag Race stars took to the comment section to offer their congratulations, with Jujubee writing, “Would actually top you. Wow, I never thought I’d say this.”
Shangela had a more wholesome response, commenting, “This is awesome!!! You’re gonna kill it!” And Cheryl Hole wrote, “West End to Broadway. It only seems correct! So proud.”
Titanique will end its extended run at the Daryl Roth Theatre on January 7, 2024.
