WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — This Lunar New Year will welcome the year of the dragon. The celebration starts on Saturday, Feb. 10, and ends 15 days later on the Lantern Festival.

WASHINGTON D.C.

DC Chinese Lunar New Year Parade

The 2024 Annual Chinese Lunar New Year parade is just a few days away. The streets of D.C.’s Chinatown will be filled with people as they celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

At the event, people can expect a community-based parade that will include different cultural and community performers.

The finale will feature a firecracker show in the middle of H Street.

Organizers said that the best way to get there is to take the metro to Gallery Place.

VIRGINIA

15th Annual Chinese New Year Festival

Luther Jackson Middle School (3020 Gallows Rd., Falls Church, Va.)

Saturday, February 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Asian Community Service Center is hosting its 15th Annual Chinese New Year Festival.

Around 4,000 people attend the event every year.

The goal for this year’s event is to return to tradition. You will be able to expect cultural performances including dragon and lion dances, Asian foods, a New Year parade, a culture exhibition and a craft show.

People are also encouraged to wear traditional clothing to the event.

MARYLAND

Lunar New Year Banquet: Dance with the Dragons

China Garden Rockville (11333 Woodglen Dr., Rockville, Md.)

Saturday, February 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The Lunar New Year banquet promises to offer a night of culture, celebration, food, and friends.

The event will include a family-style dinner, an open bar, live performances, a photo booth, a DJ and raffle tickets.
