Drake women's basketball team falls at Valparaiso

Valparaiso, Ind. — A slow start and cold 3-point shooting were costly for the Drake women's basketball team in a 71-61 Missouri Valley Conference loss to Valparaiso on Sunday.

Valparaiso (4-11, 2-2 Valley) jumped to a 20-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Drake played the Crusaders mostly even for the rest of the game and fell to 9-6 overall and 1-3 in the Valley.

Drake shot 5-of-26 from 3-point range (19%) while Valparaiso was 14-of-31 (45%). Valparaiso scored 28 points off turnovers.

Maddie Petersen and Anna Miller led the Bulldogs with 12 points apiece.
