'This is my dream': David Grisanti back in Collierville with new restaurant on Town Square

Just about a mile away from his now-closed restaurant, David Grisanti will open another Italian eatery in the heart of Collierville.

David Grisanti's On Main will open in about two months, serving his iconic pastas, fresh fish and steaks — which he had served since 2018 inside the Sheffield Antiques Mall, 684 W. Poplar Ave.

Grisanti closed his Sheffield restaurant in January but decided to stay in Collierville where his clientele boasts about his food.

"I was in the Sheffield Mall, and it got me a great start there, but I had to follow their hours at Sheffield," Grisanti said. "It got real big, and there was just a long waiting list. It was just time to move, time to be in a bigger place and that's why I wanted to be on the Town Square."

David Grisanti's On Main will open in about two months at 148 N. Main St. in Collierville Town Square.

David Grisanti's On Main, 148 N. Main St., will seat about 122 customers, 47 more seats than his previous restaurant. Grisanti also said the new restaurant will have a patio out front, overlooking Town Square.

"I'll have a bar and a nice patio in the front," he said. "I've been doing this all my life... and this is my dream. Good food, good wine and good service."

The new restaurant is not only bigger but it also holds significance for Grisanti and his wife, Robyn Grisanti, who will help run the eatery and serve as the hostess.

"I love Town Square," he said. "Me and my wife, that's where we got married, there on the Town Square. We just love downtown (Collierville)."

The restaurant will serve dinner from 5-9:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and will include specials, like fresh fish, on Fridays and Saturdays. He said the eatery will eventually serve lunch too.

Grisanti, who makes his food in house every day, said past customers reached out to him about his new restaurant, excited to eat his food again and enjoy his Tuscan touch in Collierville.

He also is eager to greet his diners again.

"I enjoy meeting people and talking to customers," he said. "I'm pretty much in the kitchen, but I have a bunch of customers come in and go, 'I want to talk to David,' and I try to go to each table and talk to my customers."

The new restaurant will serve every dinner option his previous eatery made, including homemade ravioli (filled with beef, chicken, spinach and parmesan), the Elfo Special (shrimp, mushroom, garlic and butter sautéed together atop spaghetti with parmesan) and his filet mignon wrapped in bacon and topped with mushrooms.

Grisanti said it remains unclear exactly when the restaurant will officially open, but renovations on the former post office building are underway.
