Dreamville Festival: Fayetteville's Morray stops show while distressed fan receives help

One of Fayetteville's own took to the Shine stage at J. Cole's Dreamville Festival at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh on Saturday.

Morray, who rose to fame following the success of his 2020 music video release of his single "Quicksand," started his set with a verse from the "my.life" track. Morray was featured on that track on J. Cole's "The Off-Season" album.

He later performed a new song for the crowd praising his home state, North Carolina.

In the middle of his set, a member of the audience seemed to be in distress and caught the "Trenches" artist's attention.

Morray refused to continue his set until the person was helped. He urged both security and audience members to help the person. Once the person received help, Morray said, "that's North Carolina." He asked if the person was OK before he continued.

Morray ended his set with the song that he said "put him on" as members of the crowd sang and rapped along to the "Quicksand" lyrics. Morray said he never performed for an audience this size before exiting the stage as the crowd applauded him.

After his initial success with "Quicksand," he went on to release his album "Street Sermons" in April 2021.

When J. Cole announced his "The Off-Season" tour last summer, he also announced that Morray would be one of the artists featured on the tour.
