Dressage Olympic champion Grillo dies at 71

Dressage Olympic champion Gabriela Grillo has died at the age of 71, the GRILLO-Werke family business said on Tuesday evening.

The former rider and businesswoman passed away on Sunday. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Grillo won team dressage gold with Germany at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. She also claimed two team titles at the 1978 and 1982 world championships.

The German Equestrian Federation called Grillo "one of the most successful dressage riders of her time" in a statement.
