Drew Barrymore Doesn't Buy Her Kids Christmas Gifts, But She Has A Really Cool Alternative

Drew Barrymore won't be getting any Christmas gifts for her kids this year — or any year, for that matter. But she has a pretty good reason for not doing so.

As you may know, Drew has two children with her ex-husband, Will Kopelman: 10-year-old daughter Olive and 8-year-old daughter Frankie.

She said that instead of giving them material items, she likes to gift them experiences to create more lasting memories.

"I always take them on a trip every Christmas. I don't get them presents, which I think at their ages they don't love, but I say, 'I think we'll remember the place and the photos and the experience and that's what I want to give you,'" she told Entertainment Tonight.

"And they get plenty of things throughout the year," she continued, "so I'm not like some weird, strict, cold mom who's like, 'You don’t get any gifts!' I just feel like a better gift would be a life memory. I'd rather invest [in that than in] a doll house or something. It all evens out and it's fine."

Drew shared that she last gave her daughters Christmas gifts during the pandemic, since they were unable to go anywhere due to travel restrictions. She said the experience made her realize how much gift-giving "sucks" and how experiences are better since her daughters don't ever "complain about not liking what they get."

"I'm glad I do what I do," she added.
