Drew Brees to make guest appearance with ESPN2’s Manning show

Legendary New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will make an appearance on Peyton and Eli Manning’s “Monday Night Football” simulcast this week, per John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal. ESPN’s Mike Triplett adds that Brees will join them some time “in the second half,” so plan accordingly. It’s an appropriate guest spot with the Saints visiting the Seattle Seahawks in front of a national audience.

Brees retired from the NFL earlier this year to pursue a career in broadcasting with NBC Sports, where he’s found immediate success in studio segments on Sunday nights while calling Notre Dame games on Saturdays alongside Mike Tirico. It’ll be fun to get his insight during a Saints game given his unique proximity to the team.

And maybe we’ll get some good-natured ribbing about Brees beating Peyton and the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV or his 6-2 record against Eli’s Giants teams. Either way, it’s worth tuning in for on ESPN2.
