Apr. 6—Former Firestone Trustee Drew Peterson was elected Tuesday to be the town's newest mayor.

Peterson, who earned 713 votes, defeated candidates Douglas Sharp, Dan Martin and Samantha Meiring. Tuesday's unofficial results showed Sharp with 655 votes, Meiring with 511 votes and Martin with 67 votes.

Peterson served as a trustee from 2016 to 2020. He previously told the Times Call that he was running his campaign on the pillars of fiscal responsibility, transparency and community. The Times-Call could not reach Peterson late Tuesday for additional comment.

In the Firestone Board of Trustees race to fill three seats, incumbents Don Conyac and Frank Jimenez came out as victors, alongside Matt Holcomb, a former Firestone mayor pro tem. Holcomb earned 950 votes, followed by Conyac with 935 votes and Jimenez with 908 votes.

Other candidates who competed in the Firestone Board of Trustees race were Paul Sorensen with 828 votes; Randall MacCloud, with 750 votes; and Darrell Tymoczko with 735 votes.

Peterson will replace Firestone Mayor Bobbi Sindelar, who was elected in 2020. In a letter to Firestone that was published in the town newsletter, Sindelar said she has watched the community "grow and flourish" before her eyes.

Sindelar thanked the town staff and Firestone Board of Trustees for their work and cited numerous efforts over the years to better the town, including adding recreation amenities and "strategically planning for additional developments."

The Firestone Board of Trustees is made up of an elected mayor, who serves a two-year term, and six trustees, who serve four-year terms.

Town spokesperson Katie Hansen said results are available on the town's website at firestoneco.gov/election.
