Can you drink alcohol in public on Tampa Bay beaches?

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — With summer just around the corner, many of us will spend more time at local beaches, enjoying the beautiful Florida weather and maybe a cocktail.

But can you drink alcohol in public on our local beach?

St. Pete/Clearwater Beaches

  • Clearwater Beach– No alcohol on public beaches

  • Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island– No alcohol on public beaches, unless purchased at Café Honeymoon but it must be consumed on-premises

  • Belleair Beach– No alcohol on public beaches

  • Indian Rocks Beach– No alcohol on public beaches

  • Fort De Soto Park– No alcohol on public beaches

  • Madeira Beach– Alcohol is permitted but not in a glass container

  • St. Pete Beach– Alcohol is permitted only for registered guests in cabana areas of the beachfront hotels

  • Treasure Island– Alcohol is permitted but not in a glass container; no alcohol between the 8500 block and 990 block of Treasure Island Beach on the weekends between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

  • Redington Beach– Alcohol is permitted, but not on the neighboring beaches of Redington Shores or North Redington Beach

  • Gulfport Beach– No alcohol on public beaches

  • Spa Beach at the St. Pete Pier– No alcohol on public beaches

Bradenton Beaches

  • No alcohol is allowed on any Manatee County beach, however, some beach bars sell alcohol that can be consumed on the premises only

Sarasota Beaches

  • Siesta Key Beach– Alcohol is permitted but not in a glass container

  • Turtle Beach– Alcohol is permitted but not in a glass container

  • Lido Key– Alcohol is permitted but not in a glass container

  • Longboat Key– Alcohol is permitted but not in a glass container

  • Casey Key- Alcohol is permitted but not in a glass container

  • Venice Beach– Alcohol is permitted but not in a glass container

  • Manasota Key– Alcohol is permitted but not in a glass container

According to House Bill 1561, which passed the Senate on May 4, 2023, Florida’s Beverage Law limits the amount of “quote licenses” issued per county by the Department of Business and Profession Regulation.
