Watch: Drink driver crashes Maserati right in front of police car
This is the moment a drink driver crashed his Maserati in a city centre right in front of a police patrol car.
The motorist, who was twice the drink driving limit, ploughed his car into a set of railings at traffic lights on Bristol Street in Birmingham last October.
He did so right under the nose of a police car, which was just metres away at a junction travelling in the opposite direction.
On Sunday, West Midlands Police posted the CCTV footage of the crash and revealed that the driver had been fined and banned from the roads.
This clip shows the dangers of drink driving. The driver of this Maserati was double the limit when he crashed in front of one of our patrols and was arrested. He was found guilty and was banned from driving for a year and fined a total of £2,190. #DontDrinkDrive pic.twitter.com/UqnxOp5KGF

The force's traffic unit tweeted: "This clip shows the dangers of drink driving.
"The driver of this Maserati was double the limit when he crashed in front of one of our patrols and was arrested.
"He was found guilty and was banned from driving for a year and fined a total of £2,190."
In the footage, the Maserati goes through traffic lights at the busy junction but then crashes into railings on the opposite side.
Within seconds, the police car waiting to travel in the opposite direction turns its sirens on and pulls over behind the crashed Maserati.
Police bodycam footage then shows an officer getting out of his car to speak to the driver as smoke billows from the front of the Maserati, which was left severely damaged.
One Twitter user replied to the force's tweet by posting: "Never a cop around when you... oh wait."
Another tweeted: "Wow. Handy one of your officers was right there."
Another Twitter user wrote: "Right in front of a police car! Fantastic timing."
