Drive-In Movies Coming To SeatGeek Stadium

BRIDGEVIEW, IL — With movie theaters closed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, a makeshift drive-in movie theater is coming to SeatGeek Stadium, 7000 S. Harlem Ave. in Bridgeview starting this Thursday, June 11, with a screening of “The Goonies.”

The Chicago Drive-In Theater will show movies seven days a week in one of SeatGeek’s parking lots. Social distancing guidelines will be observed. Guests will have to sit inside their vehicles while enjoying the flick. Bring a face covering when grabbing a snack at the concession stand or visiting the restroom.

Movies will be beamed on to a 70-foot screen while guests can listen to the film’s audio on their car’s FM radio or on a portable radio. Tickets range from $30 to $60 per vehicle, for as many people that can legally fit within the car’s capacity (no hiding in the trunk). Higher priced tickets offer a better vantage point of the screen.

Movies start at 8:30 p.m., with a second screening of another movie at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Most of the upcoming films feature such chestnuts from the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, as “Honey I Shrunk the Kids,” “Spiderman,” “The Blues Brothers” and “Moana,” with many more to come. Purchase tickets in advance on the Chicago Drive-In Theater website.

“Chicago Drive-In is a newly founded operation to help you get some fun while social distancing. We are extremely excited to bring you this project in the hopes that we may all salvage some summer fun together,” according to the company’s website.
