Do you drive one of Subaru's top-sellers? Camden carmaker says this is what sold in 2023

CAMDEN - Subaru of America has reported a 13.6 percent increase in annual sales, helped by the rising popularity of several models.

The company's best performer was the Forester, at least when measured by a 34 percent jump in annual sales.

Here's a look at Subaru's other brands, when measured by annual sales:

  • The Outback, with 161,814 vehicle sales. That's a 10 percent increase for the year.

  • The Crosstrek, which had its best-ever year with 159,193 sales. That's a 3 percent increase.

  • The Forester, with 152,566 vehicle sales.

  • The Ascent SUV sold 60,543 units, but that was down almost 5 percent.

  • The Impreza sold 34,719 vehicles for a 12.6 percent increase.

  • The Legacy, with annual sales of 25,510 and a 12.9 percent gain.

Percentage gains were high, but on a smaller base, for the company's performance vehicles:

  • The WRX, up by 32 percent for annual sales of 24,681.

  • The BRZ sports car rose 25 percent to 4,188 sales.

Subaru also said the Solterra EV sold 8,872 vehicles during its first full year on the market.

Overall sales have risen for 17 straight months, with an 18 percent advance in December, the company said in a statement.

"We closed 2023 on a high note, capping off a year of steady sales gains," said Troy Poston, the firm's senior vice president of sales.

He said Subaru showed "significant growth" with total sales in 2023 of 632,086 vehicles.
