The event described below has been canceled due to the extremely cold, windy weather expected Friday evening.

Mechanics Street in Doylestown will be transformed into Bethlehem Friday when the Doylestown Presbyterian Church Dads Group offers its drive-thru nativity.

Members of the Doylestown Presbyterian Church Dads Group hosted a "Drive-Thru Nativity" last year on Mechanics Street in Doylestown and plan to do the same from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. this Friday.

The scene will include animals, shepherds, wise men, the angel Gabriel and, of course, depictions of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus.

The community is invited to drive along Mechanics Street between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. (entering via Broad Street) to see the story come to life. Admission is free but volunteers will be collecting donations to benefit the Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless and the Code Blue shelter that operates at DPC and other locations throughout the winter months.

A group of dedicated Doylestown Presbyterian dads, along with Pastor John Willingham, started the tradition last year and are eager to make the 2022 edition even more memorable.

“Last year was so rewarding for us, and we can’t wait to go bigger this year!” said Matt Rizk, a member of the Dads Group. “Seeing the cars lined up and greeting many new and familiar faces made it all worthwhile.”

The church asks this year's motorists to be sure to check www.dtownpc.org or Facebook.com/dtownpc for notice of possible cancellation due to inclement weather.

Doylestown Presbyterian also welcomes the community to attend Christmas Eve worship services, with undesignated offerings going toward Presbyterian Disaster Assistance for Hurricane Ian.

At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, children take the lead in the family service, when they will offer their own version of the events surrounding Jesus’ birth. Later, at 5 p.m., a traditional candlelight service (with childcare available) will take place and candlelight communion services will take place at 7 and 9 p.m. These three services feature a visual scene when participants illuminate candles together. All services take place inside the sanctuary at 127 E. Court St. The 7 p.m. service will be available via Livestream or as a recording at www.dtownpc.org.
