A 30-year-old driver was killed when his BMW flew off the side of a Bronx expressway embankment into oncoming traffic below, police said Thursday.

Alwayne Hylton was speeding south on the Bruckner Expressway when he lost control of his BMW 328 on a curve near the Country Club Road exit in Pelham Bay about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, cops said.

The luxury sports car flew through the air, slamming down onto opposite lanes below, where it overturned before slamming into an expressway wall, cops said. Pieces of debris struck an oncoming Toyota Rav4.

Responding officers found the mangled BMW on the side of the road with all of its air bags deployed.

Hylton was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center but couldn’t be saved. He lived in the Wakefield section of the Bronx.

“We’re still trying to process,” Hylton’s sister said Thursday. “It’s hard to understand. We don’t know anything. The police aren’t telling us anything.”

Hylton’s passengers, two men, ages 26 and 37, suffered serious injuries to their head and bodies but were expected to survive.

The 51-year-old woman driving the Toyota Rav4 wasn’t seriously injured but was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for observation.
