Driver arrested in Bridgewater hit-and-run that injured pedestrian, police say

Bridgewater Police tweeted on March 18, 2023 that they had identified the owner of this vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian.

BRIDGEWATER — The man who police say was involved in a hit-and-run in Bridgewater on Friday, March 17, that injured a pedestrian was arrested and charged Monday, the Bridgewater Police Department said.

Ryan Dinocco, 20, of Abington was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, improper operation of a motor vehicle speeding at a rate greater than reasonable, and a marked lanes violation, according to Bridgewater Police Chief Christopher Delmonte.

The 19-year-old woman who was injured in the crash was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. She has since been released from the hospital, a written statement from the police said.

What happened?

On Friday, March 17 at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Bridgewater Police Department responded to "several 911 calls" reporting a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the area of 71 Burrill Ave., the statement said.

Witnesses told police the vehicle involved left the scene at a "high rate of speed after stopping briefly," the statement said. Police were unable to locate the suspect's car in the area.

At around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, March 17, Bridgewater Police tweeted they were searching for the suspect's vehicle and requested help from the public through social media.

The next day, the police department tweeted they had identified the suspect and had located his vehicle, a 2007 Lincoln MKZ. Upon locating the vehicle, detectives found it to have damage consistent with the crash, the statement said.

They thanked the Bridgewater State University Police as well as the school's students for assisting with the search.

Dinocco was found at his home in Abington, which is where police made the arrest.
