Driver arrested on suspicion of DWI in crash that killed 2 Willard women, police say

Police say two Willard women died in a crash in Springfield over the weekend.

At about 1 a.m. on Sunday, Springfield Police Department officers responded to the intersection of West Bypass and Chestnut Expressway after a two-vehicle crash was reported.

According to SPD, the initial investigation indicates that a 2000 white Silverado driven by Ronica Tollison, 37 of Willard, crashed at the intersection with a 2009 black Ford F350 that was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Tollison and her passenger Britany Toothman, 34 of Willard, both sustained significant injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, the driver of the F350 showed signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene.

As of Monday morning, a search of online court records did not reveal any criminal charges had been filed in the case.

The Springfield Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the department at (417) 864-1810.
