Driver in critical condition after crash on Route 4 in South Berwick
SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — A three-car accident on Tuesday sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of a 2013 Subaru Imprezza, identified as a 69-year-old woman from Talladega, Alabama, was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover on Tuesday for treatment of her injuries. She was med-flighted later that night to Mass General in Boston. A spokesperson there said she is listed in critical condition.
Lt. Jeffrey Upton said multiple calls came in at around 1:22 p.m. reporting a motor vehicle crash on Main Street (Route 4) in South Berwick near the intersection of Park Street.
South Berwick Police, South Berwick Fire, and York Ambulance responded to the crash and found the 2013 Subaru Impreza and a 2014 BMW 3 Series in the roadway, both with heavy front-end damage.
The BMW was parked and unoccupied. Upton said the owner responded after the crash.

Police said the driver was traveling north on Main Street and crossed the center line, colliding with the BMW, which was legally parked, facing south on Main Street, according to police.
The BMW was pushed into the roadway and collided with a third vehicle, a 2018 Toyota RAV4, driven by a 38-year-old man from Newmarket, according to Upton. was not injured.

Main Street was closed to traffic and was reopened at 3:15 p.m. Upton said South Berwick Highway department responded to help with the cleanup.
Police said the investigation in ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
