Driver Fights Off Deadly Brown Snake on Queensland Highway
A man pulled over for speeding in Queensland recently had a pretty good excuse: he’d just fought off and killed a deadly brown snake, and was taking himself as fast as possible to the nearest hospital.
Footage released by the Queensland Police Service on July 7 shows the unusual June 15 traffic stop.
The driver was a 27-year-old Gladstone man, named as Jimmy. When he was pulled over, he showed the police the snake – which he had managed to kill with his work knife – in the tray of his truck, and said he’d been bitten.
“It just started to wrap around me,” Jimmy told police. “Its head just started striking at the chair, between my legs.”
