Driver ID'd after fatal crash on Westlake Boulevard in TO

Authorities have identified a 74-year-old Tarzana man who died in a single-vehicle crash on Westlake Boulevard south of Potrero Road in Thousand Oaks early Saturday.

Charles Dishong had been traveling southbound on Westlake when his vehicle left the road and hit an embankment on the east side of the route shortly after 3 a.m., according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, which is contracted for police services in Thousand Oaks.

The stretch is in a hilly, rural area near the city's southern edge, southeast of Lake Sherwood.

Deputies and Ventura County firefighters found Dishong's vehicle overturned on its roof. Firefighters attempted a rescue, but ultimately pronounced Dishong dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle.

The collision with the embankment had caused the vehicle to overturn, investigators determined. It came to rest in the northbound lane of the boulevard.
