Driver injured after crashing car into Brockton home, causing extensive damage
BROCKTON — A vehicle crashed into the front of a city home Tuesday morning, which resulted in extensive damage to the house and sent the driver to the hospital, officials said.
The crash occurred at 862-864 Crescent St., a two-family house on the corner of Crescent Street and Rockwell Avenue.
First responders found a silver sedan that had sustained heavy front-end damage at the front of the home, with some of the house's front stairs, porch support pillars and siding damaged.
Firefighters helped evacuate the house as a safety precaution until it could be assessed by city inspectors.
"The 55-year-old driver said he lost control when another vehicle cut in front of him," Brockton police spokesperson Darren Duarte said.
The driver was taken by Brewster Ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries, Duarte said.
No one else, including residents of the home, was injured.
Police issued a citation to the driver for speeding, Duarte said.
