Driver involved in fatal shooting of NYPD Officer Diller to appear in court

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – One of the suspects involved in the fatal shooting of NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller is expected to appear in a Queens courtroom on Tuesday.

Lindy Jones was driving the car that was illegally parked at a Queens bus stop, which Diller and his partner approached, according to authorities. Guy Rivera, a passenger in the car, then allegedly shot and killed Diller in the stomach, police said.

Diller was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. His partner shot Rivera in the back before the injured Diller grabbed Rivera’s gun, according to authorities.

Jones is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and defacing a firearm. Rivera is charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
