A driver is killed and another is injured in a crash near McGovern Park on Milwaukee's north side

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a fatal crash near McGovern Park on the city's north side Thursday.

Police say the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of North Sherman Boulevard. A car traveling northbound crossed the center line of North Sherman Boulevard colliding with another car traveling southbound.

The driver of the car traveling northbound, a 63-year-old man, died. The driver of the car traveling southbound, a 52-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries. She was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.

According to the Milwaukee police traffic dashboard, this is the fourth person to die from a traffic crash this year. Last year, 66 people died in traffic crashes.
