Driver killed after crashing into Garden State Parkway toll plaza in Saddle Brook

A car travelling north on the Garden State Parkway early Saturday morning struck the Bergen toll plaza in Saddle Brook, killing the driver and engulfing the car in flames, according to state police.

The crash was reported at 3:30 a.m. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the unidentified driver died in the crash.

The car was completely charred and destroyed by the fire.

Several lanes were closed around the toll plaza for several hours during the investigation.
