Driver killed after traveling wrong direction on I-35 in Clarke County

A driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 35 in Clarke County died Thursday night after colliding with a semi-tractor.

Larry Ross, 82, of Osceola, drove his 2008 Chevy Impala southbound in the northbound lanes, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, and collided just before 6:30 p.m. with the northbound semi-truck owned by Bettendorf-based C & W Trucking & Sons Inc., according to the report. It said Ross was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Medical personnel took Ross to the Clarke County Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the truck also was taken to the hospital, but the report did not say whether he was injured.
