A driver and passenger are in stable condition after being involved in a Tuesday car accident that closed a street in Stroudsburg and ignited a small fire.

According to Stroud Area Regional Police Department (SARPD), a maroon 2020 Chevrolet Equinox blew a red light at McConnell and North 3rd Street at a high rate of speed, crashing into a gray 2017 Toyota Highlander around 4:30 p.m.

The Equinox rolled down McConnell Street toward its intersection with Kane Street.

Both occupants of the Chevrolet were transported to the hospital, the driver via helicopter and the passenger via ambulance. Both suffered multiple injuries but were in stable condition as of Wednesday.
