Driver runs from traffic stop - and leaves winning lotto ticket and meth, GA cops say

Fleeing a traffic stop on foot, a Georgia man left his winning lottery ticket and drugs behind Monday, according to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, which is holding it for him.

Police posted a picture of the scratch-off ticket on Facebook, along with an invitation to come claim it at the sheriff’s office.

“To the suspect who ran on foot from our deputies on a traffic stop this morning on I-75, you left a winning $100.00 lottery ticket in your vehicle,” the post read. “You can claim your ticket at 498 Chattin Dr. in Canton. It will be here waiting for you. Congratulations by the way.”

But it wasn’t long before police shared another update.

After picking some winning numbers and evading police, the suspect’s luck ran out.

A short time later, he was found and arrested near the site of the traffic stop, according to the sheriff’s office.

The $100 is still all his.

“Yes he will get his lottery ticket back,” the sheriff’s office said. “But we are keeping his methamphetamine.”
