Driver seriously injured after 2-vehicle collision in Amherst

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 24-year-old man was seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision on Millersport Highway on Tuesday morning, Amherst police said.

Police said they responded to a reported vehicle collision around 8:30 a.m. on northbound Millersport Highway in the I-290 expressway area. They said a 2014 Nissan, driven by the 24-year-old, collided with a 2017 Subaru.

After colliding with the Subaru, police said the Nissan crossed all northbound lanes of traffic before leaving the roadway, colliding with a light pole, a telephone pole, and two trees before coming to a rest. The 24-year-old driver, said to be from New York City, suffered head, neck, and back injuries during the collision and was transported to ECMC.

The driver of the Subaru, a Buffalo woman, was uninjured. No charges have been filed at this time.
