SLO County motorcyclist transported to hospital by helicopter after crash

A helicopter transported an Arroyo Grande man to the hospital Friday morning after he crashed his motorcycle in rural Arroyo Grande, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The unnamed man was riding his motorcycle on a dirt portion of Huasna Townsite Road at about 10 a.m. Friday when he struck a hole in the road, lost control of the motorcycle and crashed, CHP Sgt. Charlie McMichael said.

The motorcyclist complained of pain in his left leg and chest, McMichael said.

The motorcyclist was conscious and able to talk with medical professionals, who suspected that he had sustained a major injury, the CHP officer said.

According to the CHP, the motorcyclist had skid marks on his helmet, so medical officials on the scene ordered the Calsters medical helicopter to transport him to the hospital.

The CHP was not able to confirm to which hospital the motorcyclist was taken, according to McMichael.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, McMichael said.
