Driver swerves to miss deer, rolls 400-feet down cliff

BIG SUR, California (WJW) – A driver who swerved to avoid deer rolled 400-feet down a cliff in Big Sur, California.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), its crews received a call about an employee who left work Sunday night on February 25 and never returned home.

CHP’s airplane searched the cliffs and beaches in the area.

Crews found a car that had gone over the side of a 400-foot cliff and onto the beach below.

Troopers say on Tuesday, February 27, they saw a man standing next to the vehicle frantically waving a makeshift flag.

Helicopter rescue crews roped down to the victim.

Missing Twinsburg teen last seen leaving school

He told rescuers that when he was driving home late Sunday night, he swerved to miss some deer, which caused him to veer off the roadway and down the cliff.

The driver said he was ejected through the sunroof as the car rolled down the hillside.

Rescue crews hoisted the man to the hospital. They say he was not seriously injured.
