Driver thinks Portland protesters attacked him because he’s white

Adam Haner, the Portland driver who was beaten unconscious after crashing his car near a Black Lives Matter protest, said he was attacked because he’s white.

“I wasn’t the enemy, I’ll tell you that. I was just the guy standing there, and I was white, evidently,” Haner told KATU 2.

Haner, who was left with two black eyes, head wounds and three broken ribs after the attack, said it started outside a 7-Eleven when he tried to intervene when he saw a woman being robbed by a crowd.

“I seen the bag taken right in front of me and they were hitting the person so I just, like, tried to step in between it,” Haner told WKBN.
