Driver wounded in road rage shooting, Reading police say

Oct. 28—A man was shot in the face while driving Friday morning in Reading in what police called a case of road rage.

Police were called to Ninth and Spring streets about 6:40 a.m. where the man, who was alert and speaking, reported the incident that happened a few blocks away.

A passenger, his girlfriend, wasn't injured, police said.

Police said the man told them that a vehicle had pulled up beside him at Sixth and Spring streets and someone in that vehicle fired shots into his. He drove to a restaurant and called for help.

The man was taken by ambulance to Reading Hospital for treatment. Information on his medical condition could not be obtained.

"This is an active investigation," police said in a news release. "Leads are being followed up and updates will be provided if suspects are developed or arrests made."
