Driving instructor jailed for sexually abusing students and raping a child
A driving instructor who sexually abused students and raped a child has been jailed for 18 years.
Martyn Rees, 37, was convicted of 23 sexual offences, including the rape of a child and sexual assault.
He abused eight victims over a three-year period and was only caught after a 14-year-old girl bravely came forward after he raped her.
When police seized his mobile phone they found 29 video clips he had secretly made of young women's genitalia while giving them driving lessons.
One of the videos included him sexually assaulting a teenager who was unconscious.
On Thursday, Rees was jailed for 18 years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Judge David Fletcher said: ‘Rees had a disturbing and unhealthy interest in young
children and extreme pornography.’
He was found guilty of a further 14 offences in March this year – rape and two counts of sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl, sexual assault, plus two counts of attempted sexual assault, and six counts of making indecent images and two counts of possession of extreme pornography.
Detective Constable Andrew Hayes, from Staffordshire Police’s Child Protection and Exploitation Team, said: “Today’s sentence reflects just how dangerous Martyn Rees is.

‘Over a number of years Rees offended against vulnerable young females, abusing his position as a driving instructor.
‘The successful conviction was only possible due to the bravery and courage of the victims.
‘They were brave enough to report what had happened and had the courage to have their voices heard in court.
‘I hope this is a positive message to victims of similar offences that you will be listened to, you will be believed, you will be supported and the offence will be investigated.’
Tamina Greaves, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: ‘This was a distressing case where the offender has abused his position as a driving instructor to sexually prowl on young females.’
