Drone Footage Shows Flooded Gulf Shores in Hurricane Ida's Wake

Storm surges and heavy rain from Hurricane Ida left swathes of Gulf Shores, Alabama, flooded on August 29, as the city and Mobile County declared states of emergency.

Drone footage shot by Gulf Shores local John David Swiger shows much of the flooding along Gulf Shores Parkway. In parts of the video, Windmill Ridge Road is completely inundated.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for the Mobile area until noon on August 31 and a high surf warning through 7 am on August 31. Residents were advised not to travel.
