Ukrainian soldier Serhiy Kupin, a member of the 68th “Oleksa Dovbush” Jäger Brigade, was rescued in Luhansk Oblast with the aid of a drone, the Luhansk Oblast Military Administration reported on Facebook on Feb. 5.
Kupin was wounded during a battle in the Svatove sector, and the proximity to Russian forces prevented immediate evacuation.

“A drone attacked us,” recounts Kupin.
“I was hurt in the back. I jumped. My back, my leg… I understood immediately it was my leg (that got hurt).”
However, his comrades came up with a creative solution. They used a drone to drop him a cup of hot tea and a message: “Friend, drink and crawl after the drone!”
“I was hungry, cold, and scared,” Kupin said.
The drone was indicating the direction of movement for the Ukrainian fighter and Kupin ultimately crawled 700 meters to Ukrainian positions despite the challenging terrain and the difficulty of moving on his own.
Ukrainian defenders from the 68th “Oleksa Dovbush” Jäger Brigade published a Telegram video on Jan. 18, showcasing the use of a drone to rescue a wounded comrade.
