Drone strike damages four Il-76 aircraft deep in Russian territory

At least four Il-76 military transport aircraft were damaged in an apparent UAV strike on the Kresty airfield in Russia’s Pskov Oblast, Russian state news agency TASS reported on Aug. 30.

“Four Il-76 aircraft are damaged after an UAV attack on a military airfield; a fire broke out, two aircraft are ablaze,” TASS quotes a report by Russian emergency services.

Furthermore, Pskov regional governor Mikhail Vedernikov also said that air defense in Pskov airport was dealing with a “drone attack.”

“The Defense Ministry in Pskov airport is responding to a drone attack,” said Vedernikov.

“I’m on site since the beginning of the incident. Preliminary reports suggest there are no casualties. The extent of the damage is being assessed.”

The Pskov airport is approximately 650 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border.
