“Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid” and “lost” don’t often end up in the same sentence.

Those words might though if you try to find your way through this giant maze near Belton carved out of a cornfield to resemble the face of the Super Bowl-winning coach.

At Johnson Farms Plants and Pumpkins, a 140-acre U-pick and family fun farm, owners Tom and Jeanne Johnson added an extra attraction this fall for their visitors.

After Tom Johnson planted an eight-acre patch of corn, the couple, who’ve run the farm for the past 22 years, hired a a local crop artist to carve a corn maze in the image of Coach Reid.

Rob Stouffer of Precision Mazes, recently spent eight hours driving a Bobcat equipped with a cutting tool following GPS guidance to cut the corn into the image of Reid. Stouffer said he went back over the silage to make the paths through the corn nice.

Based in Lee’s Summit, Stouffer, who has traveled to 25 states and driven over 15,000 miles creating crop art since July, said this is the sixth Chiefs-themed crop art he has created this year. In July, he also created an over-sized welcome sign crop sculpture near Kansas City for pop super star Taylor Swift.

Jeanne Johnson said ideas for the corn maze were tossed around and even included the idea of a Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce maze. Johnson said she wasn’t quite sure about that idea, so they opted to go with Coach Reid, complete with headphones, round glasses, mustache and a KC cap.

Visitors to the farm can pick pumpkins, apples, sunflowers or produce, then snap a photo of the maze and follow the paths through the Coach Reid corn maze.

“It doesn’t take very long and I want them to try to get at least to the mustache,” said Jeanne Johnson. “It’s only eight acres and it doesn’t take very long to get through it.”

The farm, which is also known for their large, colorful, homegrown mum plants, will be open through Halloween. Johnson Farms Plants & Pumpkins is located at 17701 Holmes Rd., in Belton, Missouri.
