Drone view of devastation on Greek Rhodes Island

STORY: Whilst some buildings near Kiotari seemed to have been miraculously spared by the flames others were totally destroyed and tourist resorts and hotels now encircled by charred ground.

The fires across Greece, some supercharged by strong winds and temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), killed at least five people.

Although the blazes were less fierce on Rhodes on Wednesday firefighters were still battling fires close to a mountainous area south of the island.
